Photoshop Off-Day: The Dark Tribe

So, in honor of the new batman flick, The Dark Knight, being released this past weekend. I didn’t intend to make this. Yeah great way to honor it.

BUT, I had the idea of putting Aaron Laffey on a joker playing card. I then remembered this movie was out and decided to check out what kind of movie posters were out there.

One thing lead to another, like it always does. I’m proud of this, it isn’t my best work, but I think it’s one of my better ideas. Yes, I’m full of myself. But all my good ideas usually come when I’m not trying to think of them.

What does Fausto and Cliff have to do with Batman and Harvey Dent?

Absolutely nothing. But who cares?

If you didn’t see the movie yet, you really should. I did and the batman flicks are even the cup of tea. Very good stuff.

You may now kill me.

Photoshop Off-Day

Welcome to Photoshop Off-Day!

Photoshop Off-Day happens every Off-Day of course. I’ll post a silly image I wasted time with in Photoshop. I really have no life and nothing better to do. Sometimes it will be funny, all the time it will be intended to be funny. Sometimes the jokes might not land, but that isn’t my problem.

Okay, maybe it is. But, my day job isn’t a comedian, so I’m clear on that one.

If you have a silly picture or idea that I can make fun of concerning the Indians. Make sure you speak up. I may eventually run out of pictures or ideas. You never know.

Here is the complete archive of all Photoshop Off-Days.

Morning Update: Wedge – "Peralta is Our Shortstop"

As expected, Jake Westbrook is with the Indians on their trip to the west coast. He will visit Dr. Yocum for a check-up. That’s two injured ducklings with the team and they will soon be joined by another soon-to-be healthy one in Fausto Carmona.

Looks like Fausto will throw a bullpen session for Wedge and crew instead of starting the next time out. So the rotation should continue on as normal with Aaron Laffey starting on Wednesday after Ginter starts on Tuesday. I’ll place a bet on him starting on Friday when the Indians return from the trip.

Mark Shapiro has also come along for the ride.

Speaking injuries, the Travis Hafner injury has really opened up the opportunity for Eric Wedge to get a look at more players. Also.. They hope Hafner will be feeling up to swinging a bat when they return from the road-trip.

The problem is he isn’t doing a very good job of it in my opinion.

Why is David Dellucci still playing? Is this guy in our plans for 2009? Seriously, what the hell is going on here? Why isn’t Franklin Gutierrez and Shin-Soo Choo playing every day or at least close to every day with Garko getting most of the DH starts.

I know you are teaching Garko a little bit of a lesson by saying, your spot isn’t guarenteed. But this is getting ridiculous with Dellucci. The guy has no future with this team, yet he is still taking up at bats away from a guy like Franklin, who needs all of them to get out of this funk he is in.

“It helps us having the DH spot,” Wedge said. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, I wanted Hafner back yesterday. But what it does, it allows us to give these guys playing time because we can work in and out of that DH spot.” (Indians.com)

SHADDUP! JUST SHADDUP!

Wedge did state that Peralta is his shortstop and continues to say that Cabrera playing Short in Buffalo had nothing to do with a move. Marte will continue to get the third base starts and Cabrera will see time at second. More days off for Jhonny in the second half though, so he will play short when that happens.

Either way.. The glove work has been awesome for the Tribe this year.

“I’ve never been real big ranking this team versus other clubs we’ve had here, but I will say we’ve been very consistent defensively this year,” Indians manager Eric Wedge said prior to the series opener against Seattle on Friday. “It goes a long way with me. You talk about not giving teams extra outs — especially in the American League. That can be helpful.” (Indians.com)

Right Right Right Right.. I agree too.

Oh and here are the numbers on Ervin Santana against the Tribe.

6 Starts, 0-5, 27 IP, 6.59 ERA, 5 HR, Yowza.

Let’s hope that holds true..

Minor League Update: Bullington Solid In Start for Buffalo

Buffalo split a double-header last night against Richmond. They had some excellent pitching, yet didn’t get a lot of offense.

Bryan Bullington had an encouraging outing in the first game. He only pitched five innings, but he only threw around 50 pitches. He gave up one run on three hits and a walk and struck out four. JD Martin earned the win with three innings of relief allowing just one hit. The first baseman in Michael Aubrey and Jordan Brown knocked in the runs and Aubrey went 2-3.

David Huff had a similar outing in game two. He too went five innings, giving up just one run. He was the tough luck loser as the Herd offense got shut out.

Stephen Head had a solo home run in Akron’s 3-1 loss. Tony Sipp gave up two more runs and took the loss.

Another big offensive night for Kinston has put the K-Tribe in the lead for first. Another Head was doing the damage, this time it was Jerad Head with two RBIs. Jason Denham went 1-1 with three walks and a RBI.

Mahoning Valley picks up another win behind Doug Pickens and his first home run of the year. Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-5 with an RBI. Eric Berger pitched five solid shutout innings to earn his second win.

Rob Bryson for the Captains gave up three unearned in the Captains loss. Tony Lastroia has a piece on Bryson and how he’s fitting in with his new organization.

Oh.. Hello There!

Greetings from the new-layout!

I hope this is all easier on the eyes for most of you. A little more flashy if I do say so myself, but still simple and easier to read.

The blue background was getting to me, the large screen was as well. I’m on a very wide screen and if you are as well then you’ll be treated to both the Indians logo and Grady in the background. If not then well you still get everything else

It looks like everything will fit on the side perfectly.. I think it’s much more organized and efficient this way. I also enjoy the search feature, something the old layout did not have.

You’ll notice a new section called Wacky Wahoo’s Corner.. Simply put this is where the Joe Borowski Cigarette Boxes and Matty Underwood “Ball Sack” sounds will go. The links don’t work, but they soon will.

Photoshop Off-Day will debut tomorrow actually and return on Thursday. I want to kick it off for the hell of it, but from then on I’ll just do it on the off-days. Simply put, I’m putting my boredem, photoshop skills and awful sense of humor together to give something back on the 0ff-day.

Videos and Sounds are self-explanitory. That’s where all videos I post or record on my awful digital camera will go for future reference. Plus sounds if we are ever lucky enough to hear something as great as “Ballsack”.

What Could Have Been is a nice little thing I’ll start to do. I’ll take someone in the majors that used to be within the organization and dress them up all nice. Then I’ll throw some words in there.

Yes.. I’m keeping myself busy alright.

Oh my most favorite upgrade..

The Yardbarker and Ballhype buttons are now even.

I’m also proud of that old-school baseball uni type logo there.. Yeah that took some time but it was worth it.

Yay.. That’s All..
